Vanishing of the Bees, A Documentary Film about a threat to the Human Food supply
Chelsea Gifford, University of Colorado ENVS Major
This week the ICE Committee is sponsoring a documentary film about Colony Collapse Disorder, an unexplained phenomenon that for most of a decade has killed honeybees at an alarming rate, up to 30 percent of colonies per year. Honeybees are an essential link in the human food chain, pollinating 70 of the top 100 foods consumed by humans. Funding for the film and the event have been arranged by Chelsea Gifford, a senior in Environmental Studies who recently completed an Honors Thesis on the topic of colony collapse disorder
