John Armstrong, City of Fort Collins
For the city or Fort Collins, John works on a variety of projects in waste diversion (recycling and alternative fuels), climate protection and green building. Previously, he worked in the private sector for several environmental consulting firms, specializing in spatial (GIS and remote sensing) analysis, ecological planning and restoration. John also worked for the Colorado Natural Heritage as a conservation planner, and as an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado at Denver in the Landscape Architecture Department. He participated in an archeological survey in the Yucatan, Mexico in 1994 and has traveled extensively in Mexico, as well as southern Europe and North Africa. After graduating from high school in Boulder, John studied at Colorado State University and The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, then earned his Masters of Community and Regional Planning at the University of New Mexico in 1998.
