The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's Outstanding Mentor Awards, which recognize CU Boulder faculty for their role mentoring undergraduate research and creative projects. These exemplary mentors were selected from numerous student nominations speaking to the transformative value of mentorship.
UROP celebrates the impact they make at the intersection of scholarship and teaching. We know that what happens in partnership with mentors is transformative and empowering—and well-documented as a high-impact practice. We are encouraged by the continued resiliency of our academic and creative community and sincerely appreciate their agility in moving projects forward despite mounting challenges. In partnership with mentors, undergraduates are moving the university’s research mission forward and continue to provide real-time solutions to local, national and global challenges while driving innovations to further the public good.

"Dr. Ranjbar proactively offers guidance while giving me the freedom to work independently. This has given me a sense of confidence, autonomy and ownership.
Learning from her solidified my decision to become a Geography major by showing me a new way to see the world and my role in it.
I never thought I would be able to conduct human-subject research during my undergraduate career, but Dr. Ranjbar’s belief in my abilities gave me confidence.
Research is now one of my favorite pursuits, providing both the opportunity to learn skills useful after graduation and the ability to make a positive social impact."

She not only has taught me skills that are useful in the lab but also skills that I can carry with me beyond college.
