One of the numerous Tibetan peaks (Meili Snow Mountains) sighted during an expedition to find new ice coring sites, western Tibet, August, 2004. Ryan Vachon (INSTAAR graduate student) joined a research team was led by Lonnie Thompson of the Byrd Polar Research Center (The Ohio State University). Vachon's advisor is James White (ENVS, Geological Sciences, & INSTAAR faculty). The team was in search of a potential ice coring site. Photo: Ryan Vachon (INSTAAR).
