Dr. Hunter (ENVS/Sociology) is working with South African colleagues to explore the impact of HIV/AIDS mortality on rural households' dependence on natural resources. With ecologist Wayne Twine, University of the Witwatersrand, Dr. Hunter has found that AIDS-impacted households exhibit greater reliance on the local environment for energy and dietary needs.
