Overview

All degrees require completion of courses in three categories:

• Common core focused on science, policy and philosophy.
• Secondary core focused on developing substantive and methodological expertise
• Electives chosen to broaden and deepen the graduate training.

Common Core (required) Courses

All students (M.S. and Ph.D.) are required to complete 9 hours of a common core focused on science, policy and philosophy:

• ENVS 5000 Policy, Science and the Environment
• ENVS 5001 Environmental Philosophy
• ENVS 5002 Environmental Science (as of Fall 2004)

Electives

Depends on which secondary core. To round out your electives, you are free to choose from any graduate courses offered on campus, in consultation with your advisor and commentor (for PhD). Special attention should be paid to the scheduling of courses and prerequisites that may be required.
