Ghita Levenstein Carroll is currently the Sustainability Coordinator for the Boulder Valley School District where she is coordinating existing efforts around sustainability, defining visions and goals for district-wide environmental sustainability, working to include green design in building projects, creating awareness campaigns and working to include concepts of sustainability into standards.

Ghita received a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2008. Her dissertation work examined the relationship between emerging carbon markets and renewable energy markets. She has presented her work at forums such as the National Renewable Energy Marketing Conference, and conferences sponsored by the Electric Utility Industry and the American Wind Energy Association.

In collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Lab, Ghita co-authored a paper illustrating the potential impact of carbon regulation on the voluntary renewable energy market. Her work has also been published in Energy Policy and Solar Today.

During her time at CU, Mrs. Carroll also worked as the Energy Program Manager for the University's Environmental Center. Some highlights of her work include: A successful campaign to power three campus buildings with wind- the first such campaign in the nation making CU-Boulder a leader in sustainable energy at the time; raising $70,000 to install the first solar panels on campus; and developing a successful energy education program. Mrs. Carroll received a B.S. in Sociology with certificates in Environmental Studies and Integrated Liberal Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1998 and an M.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2004.
