More Info
Specialty
Hydrology, biogeochemistry, nutrient cycling, analytical spectroscopy.
Research Interests
Dissolved organic matter; soil organic matter; spectroscopy; hydrology; watershed biogeochemistry
Bio
I work in the Boulder Creek Critical Zone Observatory using fluorescence spectroscopy to study dissolved organic matter in the stream and water-soluble organic matter in the soil. I use concepts from biogeochemistry and hydrology to better undestand the biogeoemical role of organic matter in each of these systems and how the different organic matter pools are connected.
I'm also actively involved in outreach with the CZO and Science Discovery and with teaching on campus. I work as a lead with the graduate teacher program and in Spring 2013 will be teaching a class on ecology and policy of US waterways.
