More Info

As an M.S. candidate in the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Colorado, Boulder (UCB), Linda is pursuing both the Policy and Social Science tracts. She came to the UCB in the fall of 2008 to participate in the Graduate Certificate Program in Environment, Policy, and Society on the basis of an MBA from the University of Chicago (2001). Her professional and academic experiences led to her current interest in environmental studies and an interdisciplinary approach. Specifically, she is concerned with the policy and social aspects of sustainable (balanced) development, adaptation, and community/stakeholder engagement among other areas.

She is currently a graduate intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) engaged in both social science and policy related projects. This past summer she worked on a social review of a mining company’s interest in transitioning reclaimed land for renewable purposes. The site is located in a community sensitive to industrial scale solar development and the perceived (environmental, economic, and social) impacts. Additionally, she serves as a Sustainability Policy Assistant at UCB’s Environmental Center involved in a range of projects including implementation of AASHE’s Sustainability Tracking Assessment Rating System (STARS) which measures the University’s sustainability performance in three main areas: Curriculum & Research; Operations; and Planning, Administration & Engagement.

As an undergraduate Linda attended the University of Vermont and was awarded a B.A. in Russian & East European Studies with an individually designed concentration in Soviet Economics. From 1988 – 2007, she served in various capacities on a range of venture capital, privatization, business development, and cultural exchange projects based in the CIS (Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan), Nordic, and Developing Markets (AMELA). She had direct responsibility for project management; corporate, regulatory, environmental, and public affairs; and organizational restructuring and development. She was also member of the corporate and regional Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS), Social Responsibility (CSR), and Communications committees.

Separate from her professional and academic endeavors, Linda has always been active in sports whether at the university (Division I) or club levels. She is currently a member of UCB’s field hockey club team. She enjoys running, biking, hiking, and skiing among other outdoor activities. Linda is passionate about travel and loves to explore other cultures and places when possible.
