More Info

Eric graduated from Eastern Mennonite University, in Harrisonburg, VA, with a degree in biology in 2003. Since that time, he has worked in construction, a custom organic synthesis laboratory, and at gaining his private pilot’s license. Most recently though, he worked for Pace Analytical Services a private environmental testing laboratory headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. His interest in environmental studies deals most specifically with energy policy. Primarily, he is interested in studying the impacts and costs of traditional energy sources, and how to move towards a more diverse energy economy where renewable energy sources can be utilized to meet a significantly larger portion of our energy needs than they currently do. His secondary interests involve energy efficiency, where he is interested in studying specific sectors of our economy, namely transportation, where we can work to reduce the amount of energy that is consumed whether it is from traditional or renewable energy sources.

Eric’s research interests include, shaping policy to advance implementation of existing renewable energy technologies and understanding policy bias as it relates to different energy technologies.

Eric published a conference paper with alumna Suzanne Tegen entitled Variables Affecting Economic Development of Wind Energy (PDF). He presented that paper at the May 2009 American Wind Energy Association WindPower Conference. He also co-authored an NREL report on State Clean Energy Practices.
