More Info

Interested in the development of weather and climate services, Erik's Ph.D. research involves studying regional model forecasts, particularly atmospheric waves and hurricanes, used by West-African governments and private insurance firms. Currently in his 3rd year, he conducts his research at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (NASA GISS) as their on-site Graduate Student Research Fellow (NASA GSRP) and as a visiting scholar to Columbia University's Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering.

Prior to joining Columbia University/NASA GISS, he received his M.S. from ENVS and then served as a Morris K. Udall Foundation Native American Congressional Fellow for U.S. Representative Mark Udall (CO) with the U.S. House Science Committee - and as a Fellow of the American Indians in Science and Engineering Society (AISES) for the U.S. Department of State's Office of the Science and Technology Advisor to the Secretary.

Erik is an alumnus of the National Center for Atmospheric Research Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science program (SOARS) with several peer-reviewed publications, a hurricane modeling internship with Insurance Catastrophe Managers, LLC, (ICAT - Boulder, CO), and a brief stint as a weatherman for WAFF-48 (ABC) in Huntsville, Alabama.
