Mark Peternell is Vice President, Sustainability for Regency Centers, a Jacksonville, Florida based pubic real estate investment trust. Peternell is responsible for implementing and evolving Regency’s corporate sustainability and green building initiatives. Prior to Regency, Peternell worked for Forest City Enterprises, where he was responsible for the development of the company’s retail portfolio in Denver, Colorado, including Northfield Stapleton, one of the first shopping centers in the nation to successfully integrate LEED certification into an open air lifestyle center.

Peternell serves as a member of the United States Green Building Council’s LEED for Retail Committee, International Council of Shopping Center’s Environmental Sub-Committee, and Real Estate Roundtable’s Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee. Peternell attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and holds an MBA with a concentration in real estate, a Master of Science in Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies.
