More Info

Lee Stanish is a graduate student in Environmental Studies with a focus on aquatic ecology. More and more, people are appreciating the importance of aquatic organisms as indicators of healthy waters, and her goal is to contribute to this growing knowledge base. Lee earned a B.S. in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is interested in understanding the links between organisms, their environments, and the molecular/biochemical processes that guide responses to environmental stressors and change. Her graduate work focuses on stream community composition in response to environmental change in Antarctica, where she is part of the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long-Term Ecological Research Project. She also volunteers with the Wildlands Restoration Volunteers organization, who carry out restoration projects in sensitive areas throughout Colorado.
