Professor Van Boven's research lies at the intersection of social psychology, environmental psychology, and political psychology. He examines the social, emotional, and cognitive processes that shape judgments and decisions in environmental and political contexts. Professor Van Boven is Principal Investigator of the Emotion, Judgment, Decision, and Identity lab, which includes two faculty, several doctoral students, and undergraduate research assistants. Professor Van Boven has continuous external funding from the National Science Foundation and the Templeton Foundation. He has been an invited speaker at major universities in North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom. In addition to writing for academic audiences, Professor Van Boven has written about psychology, politics, and the environment for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Politico, and The Washington Post.
