Readings/Sources in Environmental Studies

This list of readings centers scholars and writers from marginalized groups who have contributed to and critiqued the literature in Environmental Studies. Use this resources to build your understanding of the expansiveness of perspectives in Environmental Studies and, if you teach in ENVS, to make your syllabus more inclusive.

Center for Inclusion and Social Change

The vision of the center is to provide high-impact, transformational community-building and educational programs to the CU Boulder community, and to nurture leaders grounded in the core concepts of intersectional identity development, diversity, equity and social justice.

For seeking confidential support, reporting concerns, and learning skills for helping others. Don't ignore mental health concerns, harassment, discriminatory actions, unwanted sexual behavior, abuse in a relationship, stalking, and other abusive behavior.

Mental Health Resources

Counseling and Psychiatric Services offers a variety of mental health support services, including telehealth appointments, workshops and e-Let’s Talk. CAPS will also be offering a COVID workshop series that will cover topics related to COVID-19, including mindfulness, anxiety, coping strategies and quarantine.

Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement (ODECE)

Acts as the umbrella program for a wide range of diversity and inclusion activities and programs on campus.

Ombuds 

Serves as an impartial and confidential place to discuss university-related concerns. 

Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance

Report misconduct to ensure safety and prevent further harm. The OIEC offers support resources, learns the scope of the problem, and determines options for resolution.

Research and Innovation Office (RIO) Diversity and Inclusion Hub

RIO has compiled lots of valuable resources on their hub page. One unique element is their crowdsourced resource list. They've got information on local stores, food and housing assistance, counseling services, finances, etc.

Traumatic events happen every day in all communities and CU's community is not exempt. Impact can vary and OVA strives to mitigate the impact of traumatic experiences by decreasing barriers and empowering victims/survivors in making informed decisions by providing free and confidential trauma informed services.

Resources for DACA/ASSETT Students & Employees

Are you a CU Boulder student or employee who is undocumented and/or a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) beneficiary? Do you need to talk to someone about your academic, employment or other issues? You are not alone. The university offers counseling and support services for students and employees, and you are encouraged to take full advantage of them during these uncertain times.

Collegiate Recovery Center

The CU Collegiate Recovery Center (CUCRC) provides community, support and connection for students, faculty and staff in recovery or seeking recovery from a wide range of behaviors. Our mission is to help develop peer-to-peer connections, support resiliency and contribute to their overall well-being through a welcoming and supportive community.

Student Legal Services is a small law office dedicated exclusively to serving the legal needs of CU Boulder students.

Housing Assistance

Student Support

CU offers a wide support for students working through issues outside of academics through Student Support Services. They work one-on-one with students to provide advice on personal, financial, medical and other issues; connect students with resources on and off campus; and serve as advocates for students.

Writing Center

Free service offering writers across all disciplines and skill levels the opportunity to work one-on-one with professionally trained writing consultants. 

Center for Teaching and Learning

Find resources for incorporating inclusive pedagogy into the classroom, as well as information and support on designing and teaching courses in a way that fosters success for all students by actively fostering a sense of belonging, providing equitable access to course materials, and creating a safe classroom environment.
